On the Banks of the Saco River
Welcome to Mainewoods Dance Camp at Camp Indian Acres, where tall pines line the Saco River. You'll stay in cozy cabins amidst the trees for a week of dancing and ethnic fun! The main building is the camp's hub, featuring a dining area, a spacious hardwood dance floor, an Internet Hall, and a lounge. Enjoy the Saco River for swimming or relaxing by the bank, and take advantage of our swimming pool, volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts.
A daily schedule will outline the day's cultural theme and any special events or classes. Each of our three featured guests will lead a morning class, with possible advanced lessons in the afternoon. There’s a music class for campers interested in singing or playing instruments and there is live music from professional musicians at each evening dance party.
Dance With Us
“Dancing is creating a sculpture that is visible only for a moment.”
Meals are announced by blowing a conch shell, and our kitchen staff prepares delicious food daily. If you're inclined to assist, you'll learn some cooking secrets!
Afternoons offer committee activities, jam sessions, dance sessions, and the chance to volunteer in the kitchen or take a swim. Don’t miss Binge Night, when the dance party continues until the last song!
Weather permitting, we’ll have an outdoor picnic with classic foods like hot dogs, hamburgers, and the option to buy Maine lobster.
Every evening features a dance party with live and recorded music. Plus, check out our thrift shop and auction for unique treasures to support the camp! Whatever your folk dance and music interest, Mainewoods Dance Camp will provide an exhilarating social and learning experience.
“Dancing is like dreaming with your feet!”
